Clipjar is a Chrome extension that lets you clip segments of YouTube videos and share them as links. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
When you create a clip, we store:
We do not collect your name, email address, profile picture, or any other personal information.
The user ID is stored solely to associate clips with the account that created them. It is never displayed, shared, or used for any other purpose.
Clip metadata (video ID, timestamps, thumbnail) is used to render the clip player at your shareable link.
Clipjar uses Google OAuth to authenticate you before saving a clip. We request only the userinfo.profile scope, which provides your numeric user ID. We do not read, store, or transmit your Google profile beyond that ID.
Clip data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Supabase. The backend runs on Railway. Neither service sells user data to third parties.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party. Clip links are public by design — anyone with the link can view the clip.
We take reasonable measures to protect stored data. However, no system is completely secure. In the event of a data breach, the exposed data would be limited to opaque numeric user IDs and clip metadata — no passwords, emails, or financial information are stored.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue Clipjar at any time without notice. Shared clip links may stop working if the service is shut down.
Clips are stored indefinitely so shared links remain valid. We do not currently offer a self-serve deletion tool. To request deletion of your clips, contact us at the address below.
